Conference USA unveiled its 2022 football schedules on Tuesday. Western Kentucky, who won C-USA's east division and won the Boca Raton Bowl in 2021, announced their football schedule for the upcoming season following the announcement from the conference.

The Hilltoppers are set to compete in five nonconference matchups and will play in eight C-USA games, which includes six games against teams who qualified for bowls during the 2021 season.

Because Western Kentucky scheduled an extra game at Hawaii, the Hilltoppers will have a slightly heavier road schedule this upcoming season. The Hilltoppers will play 6-of-13 games this season at Houchens-Smith Stadium.

2022 WKU Football Schedule (2021 record in parenthesis)

Aug. 27 – Austin Peay (6-5)

Sept. 3 – at Hawaii (6-7)

Sept. 10 – BYE WEEK

Sept. 17 – at Indiana (2-10)

Oct. 22 – Marshall* (7-6)

Western Kentucky will be taking on Austin Peay (Aug. 27), Hawaii (Sept. 3), Indiana (Sept. 17), Troy (Oct. 1) and Auburn (Nov. 19) for its nonconference slate.

The Hilltoppers fell short to Big Ten opponent Indiana, 33-31, at home last season and are looking to avenge the loss in Bloomington in 2022.

WKU’s game against SEC foe Auburn marks just the third all-time meeting between the schools, with their last matchup coming back in the 2005 season.

The Hilltoppers' C-USA slate consists of FIU (Sept. 24), UTSA (Oct. 8), Middle Tennessee (Oct. 15), Marshall (Oct. 22), Rice (Oct. 29), Florida Atlantic (Nov. 5), Old Dominion (Nov. 12), Charlotte (Nov. 26).
