Western Kentucky should feel a sense of confidence heading into Thursday night's showdown at home against Louisiana-Lafayette, after all, they beat the Cajuns on their home court 79-70 back on January 25th.

However, the Cajuns are in steamroll mode, winning seven of their last eight games and paced by the sensational duo of the silky-smooth Elfrid Payton and the double-double machine Shawn Long.

Even the oddsmakers in Vegas are secretly waving their red towels, as the Hilltoppers currently stand as a 2.5 point favorite.

Western Kentucky has a golden opportunity to clinch the coveted double-bye for the Sun Belt Conference Tournament that begins next week. If they are unsuccessful on Thursday night, the challenge becomes more difficult as the regular season wraps in up the A-T-L on Saturday against the Sun Belt's best, Georgia State.

However, I've heard that Ray Harper has a little magic in his back pocket during the month of March.
