A Dontaie Allen three-pointer from the top of the key with 29-seconds remaining gave Western Kentucky a 76-73 lead and helped secure an entertaining 80-78 win on the road at UAB on Wednesday night.
With the win, the Hilltoppers improved to 10-6 overall and 2-3 in C-USA play. With the loss, UAB drops to 12-5 overall and 3-3 in C-USA play.
Western Kentucky was led by Dayvion McKnight with 27 points, three rebounds, and four assists. McKnight was 10-of-21 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range.
Jordan Rawls was also in double-digits for the Hilltoppers, finishing with 16 points, three rebounds, and four assists.
UAB had four players in double-digits, led by Jordan Walker with 28 points, KJ Buffen with 14, Ledarrius Brewer with 11, and Trey Jemison with 10 points.

- In a battle of big men, UAB's Trey Jemison bested WKU's Jamarion Sharp with Jemison finishing with a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds while Sharp finished with five points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.
- UAB outrebounded WKU 44 to 30 and also outscored the Hilltoppers in the paint 32 to 20.
- WKU was 10-of-20 from three-point range, compared to 8-of-23 for UAB
- WKU guard Emmanuel Akot only played six minutes after sustaining an ankle injury
