Rising in-state recruit contacted by Lutz

WKU head coach Steve Lutz and the Hilltoppers' coaching staff have been expressing interest in an intriguing in-state recruiting target out of the Morgantown, KY. area.

Butler County (Ky.) 2025 point guard Ty Price told InsideHilltopperSports.com that Western Kentucky has recently become a player in his recruitment process, contacting his guardian.

"I haven't personally spoken to him but my guardian has," Price said. "Coach Lutz is looking to come down and watch me workout here soon."

Price said that he's definitely interested in Western Kentucky and has confidence in Coach Lutz and his ability to do great things with the Hilltoppers.

"I'm definitely interested in the program," Price said. "Coach Lutz brings a high-level of winning to the program and I know he will do big things there."

As an in-state talent, Price said that a lot of people have compared him to former WKU standout Patrick Sparks.

Since we're from the same region, a lot of people kind of compare me to Patrick Sparks, who used to play at WKU."

In addition to garnering the interest of Western Kentucky, Price has also been offered by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's new head coach Jim Shaw and has also gained interest from Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Liberty. Price said that he does not have any visits scheduled yet.

Butler Traditional (Ky.) 2024 guard Dayton Williams, who also competes for Griffin Elite AAU, has recently garnered the interest of several notable schools, including Western Kentucky, since closing out the Rise Circuit.

The 6-foot-5 combo guard out of Louisville, KY. sat down with InsideHilltopperSports.com to go in-depth on his recruitment and overall interest in the Hilltoppers and their basketball program.

Williams said that he just recently discovered Western Kentucky's coaching staff were interested in his talents, adding that he has not connected with head coach Steve Lutz or any of the Hilltoppers' coaching staff yet.

"I actually didn’t know they weren’t interested in me until just yesterday when my coach told me," Williams said. "And no I haven’t talked to anyone just yet."

Williams said that he is extremely interested in Western Kentucky, revealing that he read up on the school as well as the Hilltoppers' program. Williams additionally said he liked how it's close to home.

"Extremely interested," Williams said. "I did my research and it is a great school, and they have a great basketball program as well. It is also somewhat close, so I won’t be going far from home."

Williams said that he would love to stop by Western Kentucky for a visit sometime and said he's excited to meet the Hilltoppers' coaching staff. He said that one player from the Hilltoppers he is familiar with is Dayvion McKnight, who now plays for Xavier.

"I’d love to take a visit," Williams said. "And I look forward to meeting them. The only player I know of is Dayvion McKnight."

In addition to collecting new interest from Western Kentucky, Williams has also impressed Air Force, Murray State, Cleveland State and DePaul.

Update on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi transfer G Trey Tennyson

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi transfer guard Trey Tennyson, who stopped by Western Kentucky recently for a visit, has cut his list of schools down to three.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound recruit out of Arlington, TX. has named BYU, TCU and WKU in the list.

This past season, Tennyson averaged 15.7 points per game, 2.3 rebounds per game and 1.2 assists per game. Tennyson additionally shot 43.7% from the field, 40.2% from beyond the arc and 89.0% from the free throw line.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound recruiting target out of Long Beach, CA. sat down with InsideHilltopperSports.com to detail his recent offer from Western Kentucky, revealing his overall interest in the Hilltoppers' program.

Robinson said that he has been in contact with WKU's new wide receiver coach Micheal Spurlock since he coached at Ole Miss, adding that the Hilltoppers have been consistently involved recently.

"It was really great receiving that offer considering I've been connected with the coach that offered me for four years," Robinson said. "Coach Spurlock, and he's a real great coach and developer. He has stayed tapped in with me since he was at Ole Miss and they've been involved as of pretty recent, pretty consistently."

Robinson said he's very excited that WKU head coach Tyson Helton added valuable coaches to the staff like Coach Spurlock. He also said that Western Kentucky has been establishing themselves for the last few seasons with a bowl win over South Alabama last season.

"Real excited that Coach Helton has added some valuable coaches to the staff like Coach Spurlock," Robinson said. "Hilltoppers have been rolling the last few years, especially with the bowl victory from last year."

Robinson said that he is interested in visiting Western Kentucky, and has visits set up for Notre Dame, Penn State, Syracuse and Colorado.

"I think I will take a visit up there," Robinsons said. "Yes, in April, Notre Dame, Penn State, Syracuse and Colorado."
