2023 defensive end and tight end Obadiah Obasuyi from Rabun Gap-Nacoochee High School received an offer from Western Kentucky on Friday, May 13 following his team's practice.

Obasuyi announced the offer from the Hilltoppers on social media on Friday morning.

The rising senior is unranked on Rivals.com and now holds 10 offers.

In addition to the Hilltoppers, Obasuyi has picked up offers from Arkansas State, Campbell, Columbia, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Georgia Tech, Grambling State, Marshall and Mississippi State.

The junior out of Rabun Gap, GA. spoke with InsideHilltopperSports.com about the offer from Western Kentucky and how significant the offer is to him.

"I hate to just simply say it feels great, but it really does feel great," Obasuyi said. "Throughout this whole recruiting experience, especially this spring, people are constantly asking me which offers feels the best. With Western Kentucky, I think it is one of the first offers that truly showed me my skill."

Obasuyi has been paying attention to the Hilltoppers and their success in the 2021 season. He said he is very interested in potentially entering the college arena as a freshman and contributing to another standout season with the Hilltoppers.

"With how much they pass the ball and the way they trust their line, for them to see me as someone to contribute to another almost 6,000 and 60+ touchdown season is evident of my growth as a lineman."

Obasuyi revealed that he conversed with WKU assistant coach, co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Zach Lankford.

"Coach Lankford was super straight with it," Obasuyi said. "He came to practice this morning at 6:15 and after introducing himself, he observed the offensive line throughout the practice. After practice was done, he came to me and said that for a lineman who’s been doing this for about 4 months my skill development already was crazy. And that he believes that if this is me now, the potential is actually scary to think about."

Obasuyi also revealed that there are plenty of schools he is planning on visiting but he is most intrigued by Western Kentucky and is eager to see Bowling Green.

"I’m still getting all the places that I wish to visit together," Obasuyi said. "However, WKU is definitely in that conversation. And of course I plan to pursue a relationship with Coach Lankford and the rest of the staff. They are great coaches and have the accolades to back it up."

The 6-foot-7, 290-pound defensive end and tight end additionally talked about how his size and years of experience playing basketball have impacted his game and built his game on the football field.

"I’ve played basketball since I was four and started football my freshman year," Obasuyi said. "I think it’s been apparent that I just move better and I can get up to the second level and cover up the best of them. In the pull and screen game, I excel because of my speed. Most people see taller players as clumsy but what I’m perceived to as tall in football is average to nothing in basketball. Sitting at 6-foot-7, I have to guard the shiftiest of guards to the most brutal of bigs and that translation to the turf has been a complete one."
