2023 defensive tackle and defensive end Hollis Sams from St. John Paul II Catholic High School in Tallahassee, FL. picked up an offer from Western Kentucky on Friday, May 20.
The emerging senior out of the Sunshine State announced the offer over social media on Friday afternoon.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive tackle and defensive end spoke with InsideHilltopperSports.com about the offer from Western Kentucky and what he knows about their program at this point in his recruitment.
"It means a lot to me and I’m excited to see what’s next," Sams said. "I can't wait to see campus."
Sams talked to WKU assistant coach and running backs coach Enrique Davis, who saw some of his film. He said their conversation went over very well.
"I talked to Coach Davis," Sams said. "I sent him all of my film and we had a great conversation. I loved his enthusiasm."
Sams said he is planning a visit to Western Kentucky this summer and is very excited to get to see campus and learn more about the program.
"My excitement can’t even be described. I’m overly excited to get up there and see everything," Sams said.
He also said this offer from Western Kentucky is a significant one to him and that he intends to pursue a relationship with Coach Davis and the rest of the coaching staff.
"I definitely plan to build a great relationship with Coach Davis," Sams said. "It’s very significant to get an offer from WKU and it means a lot to me."
Sams said that the coaching staff at St. John Paul II Catholic High School have helped him to develop as a player and be ready for college football. He also said his parents have helped him as well.
"My coaches haven’t just help me become a weapon on the field, but they’ve also helped me become a better person. Also, my mother and father, they’ve been guiding me this whole way."
