2023 outside linebacker, wide receiver and tight end Desirrio Riles from University Christian High School in Jacksonville, FL. picked up an offer from Western Kentucky on Tuesday, May 17.
The rising senior out of the Sunshine State announced the offer over social media on Tuesday afternoon.
The 6-foot-3, 227-pound outside linebacker is unranked on Rivals.com and has garnered the interest of multiple programs and has a significant offer from the University of Michigan.
In addition to Western Kentucky, Riles holds nine other offers from Boston College, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Florida A&M, Florida International, Michigan, Samford, Tennessee-Martin and Troy.
Riles spoke with InsideHilltopperSports.com about the offer from the Hilltoppers and shared what he knows about their program.
"It means a lot to be offered by a very good program with a successful history of sending people to the league," Riles said. "One of the kids from Jacksonville is going there and he spoke me up to it, saying they're working hard over there and getting better everyday."
Riles said that WKU assistant coach and running backs coach Enrique Davis watched some of his film and that their conversation went great.
"Coach Davis believes in me and I’m very grateful for that," Riles said. "He loves that I am very explosive for my size and that I can move. Also Coach Davis kept it real with me and said that he has played the position and coached some very great guys in the past."
Riles confirmed that he is planning a visit to Western Kentucky this summer but said he's not sure of an exact date quite yet. He said that his high school career at University Christian High School has been a great experience and that the coaching staff there have helped him develop into the player he is today.
"The staff at UC is great," Riles said. "I grew up playing here all my life and our head coach is the nephew of the coach I played for and he's been around me all my life since I was five. We have a long history of sending people to college. My head coach David Penland told me to stay patient, it’s coming and I trusted him and put it in God's hands."
