American River College (Ca.) offensive lineman Dean Abdullah, a JUCO talent out of Sacramento, CA., picked up an offer from Western Kentucky on Monday, July 4.

Abdullah announced that he had received an offer from the Hilltoppers over social media on Monday afternoon.

The incoming talent out of The Golden State spoke with InsideHilltopperSports.com about how it felt to be offered by Western Kentucky and talked about what he knew about the Hilltoppers' program.

"It’s a blessing, and I know they like to win," Abdullah said. "Always in bowl games and putting up huge points after every game, they’re always serious contenders."

Abdullah said that Western Kentucky has just recently gotten involved in his recruitment and he got to talk to WKU assistant coach and running backs coach Enrique Davis. He said that Coach Davis also put him in touch with assistant coach, co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Zach Lankford.

"It wasn’t very long ago," Abdullah said. "First was Coach Davis and I just got to know him a little bit. Then, he introduced me to coach Lankford and it went up from there."

Abdullah said that this opportunity from the Hilltoppers is a very intriguing one and he is interested in getting to Western Kentucky for a visit soon.

"It’s definitely a huge opportunity, so it’s very enticing," Abdullah said. "I think more than anything, I do want to make it out there on a visit."

Abdullah said that he is still deciding whether or not to return to American River College this upcoming season. He revealed that he may be finding another school sooner rather than later.

"I think that’s my biggest decision right now," Abdullah said. "Before, I was locked into playing this last season at ARC then transferring, but now that may come much sooner than expected," Abdullah said.

Abdullah said that American River College has played a huge role in his growth and development on the field.

"American River College helped me out a ton coming out of high school," Abdullah said. "They helped me polish all of my techniques as well as taught me new ones to prepare myself for the next level. I’m very grateful for the whole coaching staff."
