The home opener for the 2017 football season will be against a former arch rival in Eastern Kentucky it has been announced today. The all-time record between the two programs favors the Hilltoppers, who own a 48-34-3 record over the Colonels with their last contest coming during the '08 season, where the Tops picked up the "W" by a final score of 37-13.
While the Colonels remain an FCS program with a membership in the Ohio Valley Conference, things could be different by the time this matchup occurs with our old pals, the Sun Belt Conference, currently flirting with EKU to become one of their newest members.
Here's to re-igniting the BATTLE OF THE BLUEGRASS...at least temporarily!
