Sophomore guard Dayvion McKnight was tabbed All-Conference USA First Team on Monday while junior center Jamarion Sharp was awarded with C-USA All-Defensive Team and the C-USA Defensive Player of the Year award.
McKnight and Sharp, who are in Frisco, TX. for the C-USA Tournament, met with the media on Wednesday morning over Zoom to talk about their accolades and preview Thursday's quarterfinals game.
McKnight said he was thankful for being one of five players in the league to be added to the All-C-USA First Team. McKnight said he found out he had been tabbed to the team a few moments after it was announced and said it will give him momentum going into the tournament.
McKnight also talked about preparations for tomorrow night's matchup against the winner of Marshall/LA Tech.
"We're just going to watch the two teams today, take notes, go to scouting, come in tomorrow and play the game we know," McKnight said. ... "I feel like we just gotta come and play our game, know what we're going to do and live with the outcome."
Jamarion Sharp talked about how it felt for him to win C-USA All-Defensive Team and win C-USA Player of the Year:
"Honestly, it's a lot, because in high school, I really wasn't that good. ... "I'm glad my hard work paid off."
