5th seeded WKU entered the bottom of the ninth inning of today's SBC tournament game against Texas State with a 3-0 lead and their ace closer Ian Thompkins on the mound, but things didn't go according to plan. The Bobcats rallied to tie it in the frame and send the game into extras where WKU went in order in the top half of the 10th and Texas State scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly.
Justin Hageman went eight scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and fanning six batters, but unfortunately the bullpen spoiled his efforts.
The Hilltoppers (now 29-27 on the season) falls to the loser's bracket of the double-elimination tournament and will face either #1 seed, Louisiana-Lafayette or #8 seed, Louisiana-Monroe at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
