Former University of Buffalo starting PG Lamonte Bearden (no relation to me ) has decided to transfer to WKU. Bearden started 27 games for last seasons MAC tournament champions. The Bulls have made the NCAA tournament for 2 straight seasons. Bearden will bring plenty of tournament experience to the new Hilltopper regime.
Ranked as a 3-star player out of high school. Bearden averaged 13.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in nearly 30 minutes a game for a team that went 20-15 last season. Lamonte ranked in the top 200 in the nation in assist rate and steal rate per 40. While Bearden shot a decent 42.3% from the floor. He was porous from long range while only netting 25% of his 3-point attempts.
Bearden will have to sit out next season, but will have 2 years of eligibility remaining.
