Looking for some gameday insights...USM Fan asking

First congratulations on the great season you guys are having. I am looking forward to my first visit to your campus this Saturday. I don't know how many of us Eagles will be there but we generally travel pretty well to big games. The question I have is regarding gameday experiences...what's the traffic situation (driving in on 65 from Nashville), what's parking like, what should I see while on campus, how is the view from the visitors section and any other pertinent information you think would be relevant to a visiting fan.

Lot of similarities between our two schools....we both started about the same year (1910 for us) and we were also a "teacher's college". From a sports standpoint we have a long tradition of winning in football as you guys have in basketball. We both have to deal with two P5 schools (OM, Miss State for us) and fight to gain the respect we deserve. Our previous 3 seasons have been a struggle but prior to that we had 18 winning seasons and about 12 straight years of bowl games. We feel that we are back to being the Southern Miss program of old.

Hopefully this will be a great challenge for both teams. I'm just hoping it doesn't get to be a field goal situation as that is certainly not a solid position for us. Good luck and I look forward to meeting some of the WKU fans.

Congratulations on your great season as well. Traffic on I-65 from Nashville shouldn't be a problem. You should be able to get through Nashville fairly quickly. Parking is not great but not terrible either. I'd show up a 1/2 or so prior to the game.
Visitor seats are usually on the "old" side of the stadium and around the 10 yard line. Decent seats. Western has a very nice campus. The only bad spot in town....especially during Christmas shopping is Scottsville Road.
Good Luck. Safe travels.

Thanks for the insight. We're hoping to bring a good crowd. Between the band and local Hattiesburg folks they have 8 buses and trying to get another filled for the trip. I'm expecting to see about 1,500 to 2,500 USM folks in attendance so that should help sell out the Houch. That would be great for TV and for our conference to have a full house. We've had three tough years but as you folks will learn the CUSA Championship train usually has to get through Southern Miss to get the ring. Not bragging just stating what has been the norm for the conference.
