Mansfield Legacy (Tex.) 2024 DB Landyn Cleveland details WKU offer

Mansfield Legacy (Tex.) 2024 defensive back Landyn Cleveland, an intriguing three-star recruiting target out of the Lonestar State, picked up an offer from Western Kentucky this week, announcing the opportunity from the Hilltoppers over social media on Monday, Feb. 20.



The 6-foot-1, 185-pound recruit out of Mansfield, TX. spoke with InsideHilltopperSports.com about how it felt to pick up an offer from Western Kentucky, detailing how long the Hilltoppers have been involved in his recruitment.

"It is a blessing to have the ability to play for WKU," Cleveland said. "Not really long, I saw Coach Hollingshead went to WKU, so I hit him up, and we've been chopping it up for a couple of days. He offered me when he was still at Mississippi State, so I had to rekindle with him for sure."

Cleveland, who will be playing at quarterback, wide receiver and safety next season, said he had a great conversation with WKU assistant coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Drew Hollingshead. He said they talked about how his family was doing, what positions he was playing next season and then he extended an offer.

"It was a great conversation," Cleveland said. "He asked how my family was and then we talked about what all I've been doing, and then he asked me about what all positions I'll be playing next year at my high school. Then, he offered me.

Cleveland said he's interested in learning more about the Hilltoppers' program and is planning to stop by Western Kentucky for a visit this spring.

"I wanna learn a lot about the school because maybe one day I will be at WKU and I need to know a lot about where I will be spending my next three to four years," Cleveland said. "I will be visiting some time in the spring. I havent had a chance to make a visit list yet."
