Mike Sanford named new WKU head coach

Sanford is considered a rising star in the coaching world and should be a great fit for Western. He is young, energetic and has a creative offensive mind. His father is a long time head coach, so coaching is in his bloodlines. He has also been a recruiting coordinator when he was at Stanford under Jim Harbaugh and David Shaw. In addition, he was the offensive coordinator for Boise State during the 2014 season that was capped with a Fiesta Bowl win. His experience as a recruiting coordinator will serve him well at WKU.

Some people may not like Jim Harbaugh but the truth of the matter he is a great coach. Now that Western has hired Mike Sanford, he becomes the fifth assistant on Harbaugh's first Stanford staff to become an FBS head coach. That speaks well for Harbaugh.

Willie Taggart, David Shaw; Scott Shafer, DJ Durkin and now Mike Sanford.

Flashback: Jim Harbaugh's first Stanford staff, and where they are now (click web address below to read article written on June 21, 2016). Below is an update on the article.

Willie Taggart (Oregon head coach)
