Here is the tweet that remains on WKU signee Mitchell Robinson's twitter account. Before that, he tweeted the following, "After careful consideration,I have decided to DECOMMIT from the University of Western Kentucky and explore my options this only happens once.”
Here are a few things to consider and think about:
1. Robinson has officially signed with WKU, so he cannot decommit. Now, he can asked to be released from his LOI, but obviously WKU holds the cards when it comes to his status.
2. His tweets came at around 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Hypothetically speaking, let's say there was a lapse in judgement on his part. It's late a night, he's frustrated in seeing how WKU is performing early in the hoops season and he has second thoughts and makes a couple of illicit comments on Twitter obviously not knowing how the recruiting process actually works.
Now, Coach Stansbury said he talked to his father who said his account had been "hacked," which has legs considering the first tweet said University of Western Kentucky and not WKU. It seems Robinson knows the difference in past posts and in his previous profile summary.
3. Whether Robinson's account was hacked or not, I think one thing is clear in Stansbury's quotes. The 5-star center's father seems to have a good grip on his son knowing the situation and with Stansbury and the staff having "no concerns" about his status with the Hilltoppers.
Another thing to ponder and keep an eye on - if Robinson's account was in fact "hacked," at some point I'd expect to see a tweet addressing the incident and letting people know he wasn't the one that sent tweets that have fans and media all riled up. We'll see what happens in the near future. Regardless, it's a very head-scratching situation.
