Sean how long will the AD and administration allow this downward spiral? It is very obvious from the last 3 coaches we have had prior to this clown that Western can and should continue to compete in CUSA. What is the length of his contract and is there a buy out? I have lost interest in our football program and wishing basketball was starting tomorrow. We should always be at the top in both sports.
Feelers should already be out. There is absolutely no excuse from going to on the verge of being in the Top 25 in this country to 121 in poles in a matter of months. Sanford is as lost as last years Easter Egg. We were having issues with getting people in the stands for a very fine football program. What will this do for interest? Someone had better have a little forethought and be proactive as opposed to reaction. Reaction could be to late. I realize Basketball has always been the front runner at Western and I appreciate and love our basketball program even back as far as Mr Diddle’s last years but there is absolutely no reason for this debacle in football.
Let me ask an honest question and I certainly hope your answer is NO. Do you think the administration and athletic department cares if the football program goes under?
They definitely do care about the football program. You want your athletic department to generate money and having a successful football program and putting fans in the stands is a huge part of that equation.
In terms of your interest question. For fans - if WKU keeps losing, interest will continue decline. For coaches - there will be a lot of interest from up and coming assistant coaches wanting their first shot at a head coaching gig and honestly, there will be some interest from former head coaches as well.
