WKU hosted their pro day this morning. Eight WKU players participated; Cam Clemmons, Cam Thomas, Terran Williams, Lonnie Turner, Willie McNeal, Mitchell Henry, Joel German, and Dalton Patterson. Former Army quarterback and Bowling Green native Trent Steelman also participated.
Each player participated in various drills that tested their skills and abilities in different aspects of the game, several NFL franchises sent scouts to observe the player's performances.
Tight end Mitchell Henry looked good and he showcased his abilities, while also making some nice catches during the receiving portion. Henry is a player that really stuck out to me today.
The 2014 season wasn't only special for the fans, but also for WKU's players.
I was able to speak with Cam Clemmons to discuss his time at Western Kentucky.
"It's been a long ride, I came here in 2010. It started then I remember all the
workouts. I came in as a 250-pound freshman, really skinny. I remember my first
game, our first win. Sophomore year, I remember beating Kentucky; that was our first win against a power five conference. You could say I'll never forget that, being able to go to that bowl game. This year we were able to do some great things. We have a top five offense, we beat our first rank teamed in Marshall, obviously being able to go to the Bahamas was an experience I'll never forget. It was a huge blessing to come to this university. It flew by; I kind of wish it slowed down a little bit, but I'll forever cherish my time here," said Clemmons.
Receiver Willie McNeal also spoke about his time at Western Kentucky and discussed how special the 2014 WKU football team and season was.
"I enjoyed it; its going to be something to remember. I'm going to be talking about it for years. It's going to be a team that people talk about anytime you mention Western Kentucky football, first team to go to a bowl and win. I was on the team that went to a bowl, but we didn't win. We were the first team to go to the Bahamas and win a bowl game," McNeal responded.
These former WKU players will be hoping to hear their name called during the NFL draft, which will be April 30th through May 2nd.
