Who loves off season news? THIS GUY!
Well, hopefully we all do. Because it seems playing time for Antonio Andrews in 2015 just became more of a sure thing.
The Tennessean reported what turned out to be a rumor, then later became fact, that Shonn Greene was released from the team.
In the article, Jim Waytt (who, I'm sure, many of you follow and are familiar with his work) had this to say about why the once $10-million man was released (Greene was in the final year of his contract he signed in 2013).
The Titans have depth at the position. The team drafted running back Bishop Sankey in the second round of the 2014 draft, and picked running back David Cobb and fullback Jalston Fowler in this year's draft. The Titans also have veteran running back Dexter McCluster, and second-year running back Antonio Andrews, who played at Western Kentucky.
Hollah. AA with the mention. Not only that, but with that grouping of names, it seems Andrews is the most likely candidate to be the third-string running back, which in my mind, equates to first-string kick and punt returner.
Will Andrews be placed in 3rd Down packages to offset with either Sankey or McCluster in-game? Could Andrews even be used as the change-of-pace guy once or twice a game? Let's hope so.
I think Andrews can be the first true ProToppers star (sorry, Bobby, but you've had a couple of years to take that chance), and all AA needs is one game to show the Titans what he's made of to bump him up and have him be a force in the NFL.
