Courtney Lee is making a name for himself just a few hours south of the Hill, resurrecting his journeyman career as the 6th man (even though, yes, I'm aware he starts a majority of the games) with the Memphis Grizzlies. If not for someone like Mike Conley or Tony Allen, CLee might be one of the faces of the Grizzlies team (which is what I meant by 6th man - he's juuuuuust on the cusp of being big time in Memphis).
It's clear Lee is doing well and likes the Grizz, and vice versa. Since acquiring him from Boston (in which the C's got Jerryd Bayless, so I'd say it worked out well), Lee has started 121 games and is averaging 10.5 points per game, which I'll take every day.
So, it would make sense that the Grizz wouldn't mind having another former Topper among their ranks, which is why Trency Jackson was invited to the team's fifth pre-draft workout and was there with some pretty big names. Tennessee's Josh Richardson, Eastern Washington's Tyler Harvey and Kentucky's Andrew Harrison were the headliners, while Jackson could be grouped more so with the likes of Ryan Harrow from Georgia State, who was also there.
While Trency isn't projected to get drafted, I'd assume if he gets a couple more looks in some pre-draft workouts (much like T.J. Price, who seems to be running the gambit - and worked out with another team who has a former Topper on it in the Jazz), he's more likely to get drafted than T.J., just because of how much personality he has on the court.
I think, while neither will get drafted in the NBA draft, one of them will see their name (if not both) on the D-Leauge's draft later in the year.
While I'd like to think Trency showed out over Harrison and Richardson, I think if he impressed Memphis more than Harrow, than it was a workout well done.
