A lot has happened with WKU football in terms of recruiting over the last few days, from the commitment of Lexington Catholic (Ky.) quarterback Reese Ryan, to the de-commitment of JUCO safety Antwan Hadley, to the recent commitment of JUCL defensive lineman Tavita Faaiu.
For Ryan, he has a grayshirt offer from Western Kentucky. So, his commitment won't technically count against the numbers with this 2015 class and his eligibility clock won't start until he enrolls and steps foot on campus. Case in point, last year's offensive tackle signee R.J. Scaife. He ended up grayshirting because of a back injury, stayed in Florida to rehab and take classes and is now enrolled and taking classes at WKU for the spring semester.
For Hadley, it was more of a numbers game. The NCAA told WKU that the UAB transfers had to count in their scholarship numbers and so the Hilltoppers had to make some room in the class. Unfortunately, Hadley was also considered the highest academic risk in this class, so it was a mutual parting of ways between the two.
With the recent commitment of Faaiu, WKU is very pleased to have in the fold and are happy with their additions at defensive line. The Hilltoppers have been busy adding depth upfront with Faaiu, Sidney Hammond, Omarius Bryant, and UAB transfer Jontavious Morris.
