BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Junior kicker Garrett Schwettman booted three field goals and converted four extra points in WKU Football's 36-27 win at Navy on Saturday and has been recognized as a Lou Groza Star of the Week, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Monday morning.

Schwettman tallied WKU's first six points against the Midshipmen with 37 and 36-yard field goals and gave WKU a 22-21 lead it would not relinquish late in the third quarter with a 33-yard connection. With his four extra points and 3-for-3 field goal performance, Schwettman became the 10th player in WKU history to join the 200-point scoring club as he upped his career total to 206.

The Lou Groza Award was not the only recognition for Schwettman following his standout performance, as the College Football Performance Awards selected him as an honorable mention National Specialist Performer of the Week.

He was one of three FBS kickers selected as a Lou Groza Star of the Week and Hilltopper fans can vote for Schwettman as their "favorite" star of the Week at lougrozaaward.com.

Schwettman currently leads the nation with 2.5 field goals per game and ranks second overall with 10 field goals made in 2014. His 50 points through four games are the most in Conference USA and rank fourth nationally through Week 5.

His three field goals at Navy marked the fourth-straight multiple-field goal performance and 13th of his career. Schwettman is on pace to score 150 points this season, which would shatter WKU's single-season scoring record of 117 by Matt Lange in 2003. He is also well on track to become WKU's all-time leading scorer, as his 206 career points are just 93 shy of the all-time record.

Schwettman and the Hilltoppers will prepare for its inaugural Conference USA home game this week when UAB visits Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium on Saturday.
