What WKU head coach Tyson Helton said after Thursday's practice:
- On this week's practice:
"A lot of good momentum. We got to have our mind right. We keep preaching to the players that it's going to be a dogfight again this week. I expect an Old Dominion team that is ready to go. It's the first conference game for them. It will be just like us last week trying to have something to prove. It should be a great game. Our guys are looking forward to the matchup. We gotta get it down to the last five minutes and find a way to win the game."
- On ODU's first conference game:
"Anytime you are motivated to prove something, it gives you a little bit of an edge and we gotta be able to match that and have an edge of our own. I think our guys have done a good job all week of practicing the right way and have the right mentality. We'll see when the lights are on and ball kicks off."
- On ODU's offense and keys to win:
"They have played three really good teams their last three games and have had a chance to win those games. They have the ability to be a big-play offense and score, but they've played some good defenses. We gotta be able to contain the quarterback and not give up the explosive plays. We gotta create turnovers again this week. If we do that, we'll come out with a win."
- On Ty Storey:
"Ty (Storey) is doing a good job. Getting more reps this week obviously gives you confidence. He's making good decisions and doing a good job of leading the team."
- On offensive line issues:
"It wasn't really assignment issues, but having the right hand placement and understanding you're on the backside of the play. You're really not highly involved, so don't get a holding call. From assignment football, technique, and going hard - they are doing great."
