WKU tight end Joshua Simon is the latest Hilltopper to earn preseason recognition as he was named on the Mackey Award watch list on Friday afternoon. The Mackey Award is given to the most outstanding tight end in college football and is named after John Mackey, who was one of the most outstanding tight ends to enter the NFL.
Due to a season-ending injury, Simon only played in the 2021 season opener. In just one contest, Simon grabbed three passes for 73 yards and two scores. Before the 2021 campaign, Simon recorded 33 receptions for 370 yards and three touchdowns.
