WKU to host C-USA Football Championship Game

WKU’s 49-28 win over Marshall means that it is the East Division champion and that it will host the 2015 Conference USA Football Championship Game on Saturday, December 5. The Hilltoppers (8-0 in C-USA play, 10-2 overall) are in the game in just their second year in the league after becoming the first C-USA team to finish undefeated in league play since Houston in 2011. WKU is the seventh team to go unbeaten in league play in C-USA’s 20 football seasons.

The Hilltoppers will face the winner of Saturday’s Southern Miss at Louisiana Tech game (Noon EST/11 a.m. CST on FSN Regional Networks). WKU defeated Louisiana Tech, 41-38, on Sept. 11, while the Hilltoppers and Southern Miss did not play each other this season.

The 2015 C-USA Championship Game will be televised live on ESPN 2, beginning at Noon EST/11 a.m. CST.

WKU has one of the nation’s most prolific offenses, averaging 520.1 yards and 44.2 points per game. Senior QB Brandon Doughty has passed for 4,184 yards and 42 touchdowns this season, becoming the first QB in FBS history to throw for 4,000 yards and at least 40 touchdowns in back-to-back seasons.

The Hilltoppers are aiming for their first conference championship since moving to the FBS level in 2009 and their first league championship since winning the Gateway Conference title in 2002, the same year it won the I-AA National Championship. WKU has won 11 conference championships in their program’s history.
