Western Kentucky was his first offer back on January 2nd and he visited campus in June. Had other notable offers from UAB, Middle Tennessee, Army, and others. Good pickup for the Hilltoppers and new running backs coach Andre Crenshaw. Rushed for 823 yards and nine touchdowns on a Phenix City (Ala.) Central squad that is always loaded with talent.



 
With the commitment of Simmons-Brown, here is what the rest of Western Kentucky's running back roster looks like this heading into the 2023 season.

- Davion Ervin-Poindexter, R-Jr.; Appeared in all 14 games last season, earning six starts. Tallied 525 rushing yards on 116 carries with three touchdowns. Also caught 15 passes for 84 yards. Had a season-high 108 yards rushing in the regular season finale against Florida Atlantic.

- L.T. Sanders, Soph.; Appeared in nine games for the Hilltoppers where he recorded 44 carries for 292 yards and one score on the season. Had a breakout 120-yard performance against UAB and tallied 73 yards rushing against Florida Atlantic.

- Markese Stepp, R-Sr.; Played in just four games late in the year due to injury at WKU. Carried the ball 28 times for 166 yards. Had a season-high 64 yards against Rice and a 63-yard performance against South Alabama in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Played at Nebraska and USC before transferring to WKU.

- Elijah Young, Jr.; Incoming transfer from Missouri, where he tallied 333 yards on 66 carries during his three years with the Tigers.

- Corey Landers, Fr.; Incoming freshman.
