Alpharetta High School 2023 offensive tackle Parker Peterson picked up an offer from Western Kentucky on Friday, May 13.
The junior out of Alpharetta, GA. announced the offer to social media on Friday morning.
The 6-foot-7, 280-pound offensive tackle is unranked on Rivals.com and in addition to Western Kentucky, he's picked up offers from Akron, Appalachian State, East Carolina, Jacksonville State, Marshall, Massachusetts, Memphis, Middle Tennesse and UAB.
Peterson spoke with InsideHilltopperSports.com after picking up the offer from the Hilltoppers as he shared how significant this offer is to him.
"It feels great," Peterson said. "I know that they are by far the best passing program out there."
Peterson revealed that he conversed with WKU assistant coach, co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Zach Lankford, who extended the offer to him.
"I talked to Coach Lankford and he seemed like a good guy," Peterson said. "I would love to get on campus and see his coaching style."
Peterson confirmed that he is very interested in the opportunity and will be visiting Western Kentucky in June.
"When I talked to Coach Lankford, he said he wants me up there some time in June," Peterson said. "I’m very excited. With how they play, I have little doubt that they will be anything short of great."
Peterson is a few months away from kicking off his final season at Alpharetta High School. He talked about how the coaching staff have helped him to develop and grow as a player.
"Great," Peterson said. "The coaches here are all great. Coach Kervin, our head coach, knows what he is doing. Probably my biggest help in form was my trainer Willie Anderson because He helped with nutrition, recruiting, and everything else for me."
The rising senior talked about what makes him such a weapon on the turf and what he's been working on in the offseason.
"I think it was my frame and my speed," Peterson said. "I played last year at around 238, so this year I plan on bringing more power to my playstyle."
