I think they are definitely on-par with Taggart and his staff, they've pinpointed in-state targets which was going to be a big emphasis with this staff considering their ties to the state. They evaluated and pinpointed top in-state talent and have landed eight commitments from those so far, with a few more likely to come.
They have also hit the usual areas of Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida along with making the state of Ohio a priority in recruiting as well.
As we've seen in years past, the initial flood of commitments usually comes from the in-state prospects that have visited campus on numerous occasions, camped, and establish relationships with the coaching staff. The comfort level is already there on so many levels relatively early in the process.
With eight commits already in the fold from Kentucky, I think we'll start seeing out-of-state prospects being added to the commit board once the dead period ends and WKU holds their next senior prospect camp on July 19th, where a lot of out-of-state targets are expected to be in attendance.
So, the recruiting ball should start rolling again at that point and I would expect them to pick a few prospects from the JUCO ranks as well for this class. They are expected to sign the max of 25.
My initial impressions with the staff and their recruiting approach are very good. They are setting in a good spot for the beginning of July.
