As I was on my way home from Birmingham this afternoon, I began to think about being a college basketball fan. Sometimes I think about how my sports fan life would be easier if I was raised a UK or UL fan. NCAA tourney every year, big conferences, huge recruiting budgets, sold out crowds every night etc.. But then I think about how much fun I've had as a WKU fan. Not always easy and not always good times, but it makes the good times even better. Going through the rough spots and disappointing loses only make the good years more fun because you don't take for granted those moments. I've made some amazing memories as a WKU fan and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Yes it may be less frustrating sometimes to go 32-0 and get a ton of 5 star recruits, but I think the it's more rewarding to go through the hard times and the process. Although this season ended earlier then I wanted and expected, I couldn't be prouder to be raised red and be a WKU fan. I'm about to see a ton of blue around here, even more than normal, but I will continue to wear my WKU red proudly through March Madness and every other day.
