Western Kentucky head coach Tyson Helton officially named Steven Duncan the team's starting quarterback following Tuesday's practice at Houchens-Smith Stadium.

Helton said the quarterback battle came down to Duncan and Arkansas graduate transfer Ty Storey.

Duncan, entering his redshirt junior season, completed 108-of-187 passes for 1,071 yards and nine touchdowns with seven interceptions in 2018. Duncan made five starts last season while making nine total appearances.

“I thought him and Ty Storey were pretty even to be honest with you," Helton said. "My first instinct was to run Steven out there. Ty will play — he’ll have a role. It’s gonna be competition every single day.”
